Over time we will be providing relevant real estate-related courses, workshops, seminars and presentations targeted at KEOs, Directors/Partners and Salespersons so as to expand your opportunities. 

CPD Cycle

Each CPD cycle starts from 1st October of the year till 30 September of the following year (e.g. 1 Oct 2013 - 30 Sep 2014).

All KEOs, practising Directors/Partners and Salespersons are required to fulfill a minimum of 6 hours of learning activities under the mandatory CPD for each calender year of which 3 CPD credit hours must be on core subjects.

New Salespersons are exempted from CPD requirement for the first CPD cycle but will need to comply with CPD requirement for the next and subsequent CPD cycles. 

Core CPD Subjects

Core subjects include Professional ethics, Estate Agents Act and Regulations, Laws, Government Policies and regulations related to estate agency work, Practice-related knowledge and issues.


Non-Core CPD Subjects


Non-core CPD subjects are also part of the CPD Scheme and can be included as 3 out of the mandatory 6 credit hours requirement per CPD cycle. Non-core subjects target at raising the skills and professionalism and are no less important.


Learning activities such as enhancing marketing techniques, IT, managerial, supervisory and interpersonal skills are considered non-core subjects.


CPD Credit Hours


There is a cap of 2 CPD credit hours for each core activity undertaken, regardless of the number of hours per session. For a full-day course/seminar/lecture/workshop approved to be recognised as core activity, CEA will award a maximum of 2 CPD credit hours per day.


CPD Training Roadmap And New Requirement (Effective from 1st October 2013)

The CPD courses in each category are pegged at three levels of expertise to meet the needs of KEOs, Practising Directors/Partners and Registered Salespersons.

Level 1:  For Salespersons at Initial / Intermediate level to acquire Professional Knowledge.

Level 2:  For Salespersons at Advanced Level / Team Leaders to acquire in-depth understanding of Professional Knowledge / Problem Solving & Management Skills to manage a Team.

Level 3:  For KEOs and Practising Directors / Partners and Salespersons at Senior Management Level to explore finer details of real estate disciplines, advance knowledge and develop Leadership and Key Management Skills.


Core CPD Course Categories

1 Developing and enhancing the professional ethics of KEOs and salespersons and promoting their knowledge of the Estate Agents Act and Regulations

Designed to keep KEOs and salespersons abreast of the latest laws, government policies and regulations related to estate agency work and property transactions.
3 Aimed at raising the professional standards of KEOs and salespersons through learning best practices relating to estate agency work and deepening knowledge of CEA's practice guidelines.

The CPD Training Roadmap is a structured and comprehensive framework to guide KEOs and salespersons in building their capability and professionalism in a structured manner. Under the CPD Training framework, core courses are grouped into three categories:

In addition to the minimum 6 CPD credit hours per year, KEOs and salespersons must attend at least one core CPD course under each of the three categories over three consecutive CPD cycles (3 year period). This is to achieve diversity of core courses for KEOs and Salespersons.

Those who does not fulfil the training requirement will not be able to renew their licence and registration at the end of the third CPD cycle (i.e. 1/10/2013 to 30/9/2016)

In this example, did the salesperson meet the new requirement by the end of the third cycle?Yes, the salesperson had attended CPD courses under C1, C2 and C3 over three consecutive CPD cycles and in fact had fulfilled the requirement by the end of the second CPD cycle.
